➤ "… doesn’t just pull you under – it cements you there … 'Monolith' is the sound of that patient evolution erupting into a fully-realized identity – equal parts Post-Metal contemplation, Funeral Doom despair, and guttural Death Metal catharsis …"
(Rock'n'Growl)
9 / 10
➤ "If you didn't know how to express your dark inner feelings through music, you can't ignore 'Monolith', and anyone who finds doom Metal without variety too boring should or must simply snap this up."
(Hellfire)
80 / 100
➤ "… an album for gloomy and foggy autumn days … will delight fans of the genre and all those who prefer melancholy and despair should definitely give the band a chance. Esp. recommended for fans of Cathedral, Saturnus, Amenra, Thou, Solitude Aeturnus, Burial Clouds and similar ambient Death/Doom/Post-Metal acts."
(Metal Revolution)
7 / 10
➤ "Tough, sticky, and brutal... spreading bad vibes (in a positive sense)... people who appreciate melancholy and musical coldness should give this band a chance. The album will delight fans of the genre, and the slightly more upbeat songs may also open the doors to new listeners."
(Metal Inside)
➤ "Who needs comfort when the abyss beckons? … a masterclass in melding Post-Metal atmospherics with Death-Doom’s raw fury … blending extremity with eerie beauty … vocalist Mike Bertemes howls like a man possessed, while Véronique Conrardy’s drumming could wake Cthulhu …"
(Papy Jeff Metal)
➤ "… an album that is completely coherent in itself ... sounds completely unique, yet still pays deep homage to the old Paradise Lost and Type O Negative ... in a more modern guise, into which dark, atmospheric Post-Metal elements have been woven ... 38 minutes of wonderful melancholy."
(Deaf Forever)
➤ "...abysmal sludge Doom with death breath, creaky originality, and an ever-present melancholic atmosphere, which ventures into increasingly dark depths with borrowings from Death and Black Metal."
(Rock Hard)
➤ "… absolutely no sign of happiness or hope in the entire thirty-nine minute runtime of 'Monolith' … a very rewarding record, because it will make you feel things that you might not have felt in a long time, or even want to feel … masterpiece …"

Taken from the 2024 album "Monolith", the song was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Tom Gatti and Billy Kaufmann. The visual design is by Damien Giudice.
KRATON informs about:
"'Omega' is less a song than a ritual—seven minutes of dark transcendence. With tectonic patience, the track unfolds and permeates oppressive monotony with persistent hope that prevails despite all the heaviness. Trance-like, clear passages run through gray soundscapes—fragile moments in which something bright shines through. With every breath, a quiet resistance to passing grows, a striving for something that remains. 'Omega' does not explode – it erodes, but what remains is not only emptiness, but also the possibility of a new beginning."
The oppressively heavy music of this highly ambitious band explores the darkest corners of human existence and combines a melancholic atmosphere with primal power.
KRATON's second album, "Monolith", released in 2024, is proof of the evolving sound of a truly hungry band – introspective, oppressive, and relentless.
"This isn't party music – it's a journey of catharsis and confrontation."
The name KRATON [ˈkʁaːtɔn] comes from geology and describes a large stable part of the continental system at the core of a tectonic plate. It is synonymous with a massive landmass that is very heavy and stable. "Heavy as something really heavy."
