Und das, obwohl bereits schon wieder neue Songs für eine zukünftige Veröffentlichung geschrieben und aufgenommen wurden. "Dieses Album ist etwas ganz Besonderes für uns, da es unser erstes Album ist, das wir komplett als Band geschrieben haben, mit Beiträgen von jedem einzelnen Bandmitglied. Die Songs sind den Geistern der Wildnis gewidmet. 'Nightsphere' ist ein atmosphärischer Mahlstrom, der euch verschlingen wird."
Es ist ein musikalisches Universum zur Entdeckung der eigenen tiefsten Gedanken und der Seele, die in jedem von uns ruht. Nach einem ersten Demo und einer EP ("Existenz" (2008) & ".Existenz." (2009)), mehreren Compilation-Beiträgen und einer Split-Veröffentlichung mit der Band Thränenkind ("Wiedersehen - unsere Hoffnung", 2010) veröffentlichten HERETOIR am 25. Februar 2011 ihr gleichnamiges Debütalbum "Heretoir" über Northern Silence Productions.
"Heretoir", das sich mit dem Thema Verlust auseinandersetzt, wurde von Fans und Presse weltweit sehr positiv aufgenommen, nicht zuletzt wegen des kraftvollen und atmosphärischen Cover-Artworks der französischen Ausnahmekünstler Fursy Teyssier (Les Discrets) und Metastazis (Artworks für Alcest, Anathema, Enthroned, As I Lay Dying, Gorgoroth und viele mehr).
Mit der Veröffentlichung des Debütalbums stießen Matthias S. (Bass), Max F. (Gitarre) und Emanuel D. (Schlagzeug) zum Line-Up und HERETOIR entwickelte sich zu einer kompletten Band. Es dauerte nicht lange, bis die Gruppe die Bühne mit Acts wie Agalloch, Alcest, Eluveitie, Graveworm, Sólstafir oder Secrets Of The Moon teilte.
Parallel zur Entwicklung der Liveshows wurde am 24. August 2012 die EP-Neuaufnahme/Kompilation "Substanz" veröffentlicht. Nach mehreren Europatourneen mit Agrypnie, Der Weg einer Freiheit und Dornenreich sowie einer Englandtour mit Dawn Ray'd, als auch Auftritten beim Summerbreeze Open Air, dem Ragnarök Festival und Supportshows für die renommierten Post Rocker God Is An Astronaut und die Melancholie-Meister Katatonia, konnte sich HERETOIR einen Namen in der atmosphärischen Metal-Szene machen. 2016 verließ Emanuel D. die Band und Nils G. wurde der neue Schlagzeuger. Das aktuelle Line-Up wurde durch Kevin Storm vervollständigt, der 2020 zur Band stieß.
Nach mehr als 5 Jahren intensiven Tourens wurde im März 2017 das mit Spannung erwartete zweite Album "The Circle" veröffentlicht. "The Circle" beschäftigt sich mit dem Kreislauf von Leben, Tod und Wiedergeburt. Mit einer Mischung aus erdrückender Härte und atmosphärischen Melodien schildert das Album eine emotionale Reise - ein Leben, das der Selbstreflexion und Freiheit gewidmet ist.
Neben einem weiteren sehr speziellen Coverartwork von Fursy Teyssier bietet das Album außerdem Gastvocals von Alcest-Mastermind Stéphane 'Neige' Paut und ein Mastering durch den renommierten Toningenieur Lasse Lammert. "The Circle" erhielt weltweit unglaubliches Feedback von Presse und Fans gleichermaßen.
Im Frühjahr 2017 begaben sich HERETOIR zusammen mit der US-Black-Metal-Band Ghost Bath auf eine ausgedehnte Europatournee, bei der sie in fünf Wochen mehr als 15 Länder besuchten. Es folgten weitere Festivalauftritte und eine Tour mit den finnischen Melodic-Death-Metal-Meistern Kalmah und 2018 tourte die Band zwei Wochen lang durch China.
Während der letzten Jahre/Pandemie arbeitete die Band hart und konzentrierte sich auf das Schreiben von neuem Material. 2023 markiert ein wichtiges Jahr für HERETOIR: Am 10. Februar 2023 wurde die remasterte Version des Debütalbums "Heretoir" mit Bonustracks veröffentlicht. Nur 3 Monate später veröffentlichte die Band am 19. Mai 2023 ihr neues Mini-Album "Wastelands" - ihr erstes neues Material seit 6 Jahren -, welches weltweit großen Anklang fand.
